Adding Fun Farm Animals to the Play Area

chicks in a basket

Cute little farm animals make a great addition to the farmer’s market. Place some chicks near the eggs to show a link between those morning scrambled eggs and the farm animal they came from. The chicks and wooden eggs pictured above came from Target. The labels and signs help to create a link for the preschoolers between the print and the objects they describe.

Let’s Play Dress-Up: Farmer’s Market Costumes for Kids

dress ups

Children love to dress up and play a part. Working buckles, clasps, and buttons is also a great way to work fine motor skills. Here are some clothes and costumes that are fun to include:

  • plaid shirts
  • overalls
  • cow costumes
  • straw hats
  • boots
  • aprons

Get double-duty out of the overalls, plaid shirts, and straw hats by saving them for a Pumpkin Patch dramatic play as well.
