Dramatic Play Kitchen Labels

Each year, we like to go through our supplies and refresh some of the play food, dishes and toys that have seen better days.  Of all the learning areas in our classroom, the dramatic play center gets used the most.  There is always something going on in that corner of the room, and the toys were beginning to show their age. Adding dramatic play kitchen labels and visual cues, in addition to purchasing a few new toys makes this center amazing.
Kitchen
First up is our play fridge.  I had to look long and hard to find baskets that would fit inside the shelves.  I finally found them at the container store, and they are perfect!  I added bright labels for each one with a matching label on the shelf.  My fingers are crossed that we will be able to teach our kiddos how to sort and store the food when they’re done playing with it.

Most of our cooking pots and pans had also seen better days, so I purchased this new “Green Toys” set.  I love that everything is made in the USA and is 100% recycled.

Here is the cabinet under the sink where we’re going to keep the dishes and utensils.

Dishes

Finally, I ordered new appliances from Hape.  There’s a wooden mixer, an adorable coffee pot, and a fun toaster.  A few of our old appliances still have some life left in them, so they will stay.  The kids really love to play with these, so it’s a good idea to have multiples!

Play Kitchen Appliances

Our Melissa & Doug pantry sets stay on the hutch above the appliances. You can see some of the kitchen labels that we used to create a literacy rich environment.

Spices

I can’t wait for the students to arrive next week and start playing with our new and improved kitchen.  It’s definitely one of their favorite centers.

I’d love to share all of our dramatic play Kitchen labels with you. When you sign up for our FREE newsletter, you will receive a link to download all of the labels, as well as the role play name tags and pennant bunting (shown HERE) that we use in our kitchen. Enjoy!!

Thanks for sharing the labels! My kids always struggle with keeping the kitchen area organized… I can't wait to get little bins and labels so the kids know exactly where to put things! Thank you!!!

Teaching them to keep everything organized is a big job, and definitely not one that we master in just a few days. It takes months of practice! I hope that these labels will help. Thank you for leaving a comment.
