Free Santa Song for Circle Time

It’s December. The preschoolers are excited. Like, really, really excited. Bouncing-off-the-walls excited. Too-excited-to-sit-for-circle-time excited. What’s a preschool teacher to do? Don’t worry. Print this easy, free circle time Santa song. It’s chock full of learning and will have the class erupting into a chorus of giggles!

Academically, this song is great for letter recognition and for practicing one-to-one matching. Many 4-year-olds and even some 3-year-olds will be able to spell “Santa” orally after singing this song. Amazing!

To Make the Santa Song:

Print the song lyrics and letters for the Santa Song.
Cut the letters and Santa pictures apart.
Attach the letters to an easel or place in a pocket chart. Be sure the words of the song are nearby.
Sing the verse (to the tune of Bingo) a number of times. (Note that there are 3 options for the verse in the printable set. Just choose the one that you like best.)

Now the fun begins! Cover up one letter at a time with a Santa picture. Instead of clapping, replace the letter with a “Ho!” The first verse would be sung: “Ho! A – N – T – A!”

Add another Santa picture.

Sing: “Ho! Ho! N – T – A”:

Continue on and on until the final verse: “Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho!” Preschoolers will think this is hysterical and will beg to sing the whole thing again. Repeat as many times as their little hearts desire!
