chicka chicka boom boom
We’ll look at a real coconut tree photo and share the classic Chicka Chicka Boom Boom story on the flannel board. Kids will sing the ABCs, practice recognizing letters on the alphabet chart, and create fun movement patterns. For the home project, they’ll design a colorful name sign by decorating each letter. The featured read-aloud is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr.
lmno peas
Curious peas help us explore the alphabet in creative ways! Children will sort letters and numbers on the flannel board, sing the ABCs together, and practice patterns with the L–M–N–O grid game. The read-aloud LMNO Peas by Keith Baker inspires playful learning. For the home project, kids can go on a letter scavenger hunt with a magnifying glass and marker, spotting letters in magazines or newspapers.
bad kitty
Get ready for some mischievous fun with cats and letters! Children will sing the ABCs, practice position words with the “Great Big Cat” flannel board song, and count along with the “Five Black Cats” poem. They’ll also sort foods into Yuck or Yum on the pocket chart. After reading Bad Kitty by Nick Bruel, kids can brighten someone’s day with a handmade card as a home project.
i stink!
Time to talk trash in a fun way! Kids will see a real garbage truck photo and sort items into Trash or Recycling. They’ll sing the ABCs, play the “I Stink” Peek-a-Book envelope game for letter practice, and listen to I Stink! by Kate McMullan. For the home project, little ones can scrub their toys with soapy water to keep them squeaky clean.
alphabet rescue
Get ready for some firefighting fun with a look at real fire truck photos and a lively sing-along to “Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Fire Truck.” Kids will count with “Five Brave Firefighters,” practice numbers in the “Spotty Puppy” carpet game, and enjoy Alphabet Rescue by Don & Audrey Wood. At home, they can search for items that begin with the letter F for extra letter practice.
