Light Table
This free-standing light table is 24×24″ and perfect for the preschool classroom. The little shelf can be used to store light table materials
Free Handbook
Be sure to download The Ultimate Light Table Handbook for Preschool Teachers. It’s free and has lots of tips and tricks about where to find and make great light table materials!
Light Table Stackers
The STEM Light Table set by Discount School Supply comes with 4 of the “bases,” and each has 5 stacking pegs.
The set may also come with activity cards. Unfortunately, the cards don’t correspond well with the activity. There just aren’t enough pieces to complete each card. We prefer open-ended play without template cards and are very happy with the quality of this activity.
Citrus Sorting
Reusable ice cubes look amazing on the light table! You can often find them at the dollar store or at home goods stores.
The clear, square containers are flour/sugar canisters from Walmart. They are about 4.5″ square and 7″ tall. (No link, sorry!)
Silver tongs and decorative LED lights are all from the dollar store.
Table Scatter
Craft stores and the dollar store often carry seasonal “table scatter.” The colorful acrylic pieces are gorgeous on the light table. Leaves and pumpkins seem plentiful, but apples are hard to find.

HERE are the sorting labels.
Sorting Buckets
These gorgeous translucent rainbow buckets are by Constructive Playthings!
The sticks in the middle are drink stirrers from Party City.
The color signs are available to download here.
Transparency Sheets
You can print directly on copier paper, and the light shines right through! If you’d like to take it up a notch, alternatively you can print your light table activities on transparency paper.
Read all about it here.
The alphabet printable activity is available here.
The little acrylic hearts are from the craft store.
Alphabet Construction
There are many different types of alphabet construction sets. The set in the picture is from Discount School Supply.
Unfortunately, the set did not have template cards for the students. We created our own. You can find them HERE.
(We are unable to make any customizations or changes to these templates. Thanks for understanding.)
Translucent Pegs
These giant translucent pegs are perfect for the light table. The set includes all the bases, pegs, and pattern cards you see here.
We often display light table materials in these clear chip trays from Dollar Tree. They are available with 3 sections or 4 sections.
Pattern Blocks
Pattern blocks are amazing at the math center, really cool on a magnet board, and extraordinary on the light table!
To make the mats, download PreKinders’ free pattern block templates. Then print them on transparency sheets (or plain paper works too – don’t stress!).
