Light Table Fun
The light table is a preschool classroom favorite. There is just something about the soft glow of the LED lights that beckons young learners to explore and play. But when you look closer, there is so much more than play happening at the light table. There is:
- Cooperative Play – practice taking turns, sharing, and conversation skills
- Emergent Math Skills – explore shapes, colors, and patterning
- Early Literacy – investigate letter formation, word building, and name recognition
How to Print on Clear Transparency Film

While regular copy white printer paper works just fine on the light table, these transparency sheets are perfect for creating long-lasting products. Printing on transparency film is quick and easy with just a few printer setting adjustments.

Materials Needed:
- Light Table or individual light panels
- Small Table Scatter
- Transparency Pages or white copy paper
- Gingerbread Figure Clip Art

- Print the gingerbread figures on transparency pages and cut them apart. Place around the light table, or distribute with the light panels.
- Lay out a tray with various translucent table scatter. This is sometimes referred to as vase filler and can be found at most craft stores.
- Consider using holly leaves, buttons, snowflakes, or candy canes for this gingerbread activity.

3. Allow students to explore and decorate gingerbread figures using the table scatter.
Extend the learning:
- Print copies of the gingerbread figures to post at the center with designs already included. Students work to recreate the design shown on the poster onto their light table gingerbread figure.
