Using Emotion Blocks in the Classroom

In general, the block center is a favorite in a preschool classroom. Playing with blocks allows children to express their creativity, practice social skills, and build coordination by using the small muscles in their hands. These LEGO Emotions Blocks bring that fun and more to the (block) table.

  • Free Play – As with any other blocks, the emotions blocks are perfect for free-play. Allowing students to manipulate and express themselves in any way they see fit is a great learning experience.
  • Social-Emotional Learning – The faces printed on the bricks are two-sided. This allows students to identify various emotions. Students can mix and match facial expressions with body stances to create any feeling imaginable.
  • Visual Discrimination – Each set of blocks comes with template cards that show the emotion in the situation. Students select a card, then match the blocks to the cards to create the figure shown.

The emotion blocks are versatile for classroom use. In any scenario, students have the opportunity to express their creativity, build emotional knowledge, and have fun in the process. These blocks are a perfect emotions activity for preschoolers.
