Students will LOVE working with this fun Valentine’s Day themed light table activity! This activity is simple, inexpensive and enchanting. Don’t tell the students that it’s also educational!

- acrylic hearts
- ice cube trays (from the dollar store)
The acrylic hearts are sometimes referred to as “vase filler” or “table scatter.” It’s found in the floral section of craft stores or online.
That’s it — a simple invitation to play!
Different Ways to Play

Other students might start counting and placing one heart in each compartment. Encourage them to count aloud as they fill the tray.
It can be amazing to see what other ways the students decide to use the materials. Some may ignore the trays, some may attempt to create buildings, others will form letters using the pieces. It’s important to allow students to explore freely for some of the time – it stretches those imagination muscles.
